Morris Garages (MG) Motors, a Chinese-owned British automotive company, is all set to launch its third car in Pakistan. It’s the electric version of the subcompact crossover SUV, the MG ZS. With the price tag of Rs. 68.5 lacs, it is also the cheapest electric car in Pakistan. As per reports, MG Pakistan has imported around 400 CBU units of the car. 

MG Motors acquired the greenfield status under the Automotive Development Policy 2016-20. Javed Afridi, the CEO of Haier Pakistan, partnered with the company to set up a vehicle assembly plant in Pakistan. MG Pakistan, then, debuted in the local market with MG HS in November 2020, which received an overwhelming response from the public.

MG ZS EV will follow the path of its older siblings, HS and ZS, and turn many heads in the local auto market. Other than excellent features, the MG EV has the cheapest price tag and is the most affordable electric SUV in Pakistan.

Exterior

The overall design of this car is inspired by the brand’s British heritage. The front grille, also called the Galaxy Grille, is quite prominent with an MG badging in the center. The car’s charging doc is under this very logo, which you can open by pressing it. The front bumper has a diffuser with air vents, which enhance the car’s aerodynamics and keep the electric motor cool.

The bumper has both upper and lower lip with metallic colored outlines. The front lamps have a London Eye look with DRLs. Overall, the car has a bulky front look, mainly due to the grille and the headlights.

Interior

The interior of the MG ZS EV is both beautiful and luxurious. The passengers can relax in the soft leather seats and enjoy the latest technology ride of this SUV.

The car has keyless entry, so you can open the car with one push of a button. The front and back seats have very good entry/exit space, along with ample leg and headspace. The driving seat is electric plus adjustable. The rear seats can easily accommodate two adults and one minor for a short journey. The company has also installed Seat Belts on back seats, along with Child ISOFIX seat option.

Engine

The SUV comes with a 44.5 kWh water-cooled lithium-ion battery that produces 105 kW of power and 353 Nm torque. 0-100 km/h time is 8.2 seconds.
