Detail Review:-
An all-new A-segment hatchback from Toyota recently made its global in the form of the third-generation Passo. Developed by Daihatsu (also sold as the Sirion / Boon in other markets), the 2016 Passo aims to deliver a hassle-free drive in the city, good handling and superb occupant protection in collissions.

Compared to the outgoing generation, the new Passo has a lighter, more rigid body and has a better suspension system. Front wheel drive models have stabilizers as standard for reduced body roll while larger shock absorbers provide better handling. The rear twist beams also have improved torsional rigidity which also enhanced the car's agility.

The all-new hatchback is available in two trim models, each one having a unique exterior design. Starting with the entry-level X, the front fascia gets wraparound halogen headlights, black grill and a trapezoidal air intake on the lower bumper. Meanwhile, the Moda gets circular HID headlights, black hexagon grill with chrome trim, foglights and wider air intake on the bumper. In addition, the Moda's B- and C-pillars get a blacked-out finish.

In terms of dimensions, the Passo measures 3,650mm long, 1,665mm wide and 1,525mm tall. It also has a 2,490mm wheelbase which allowed the automaker to extend interior rear legroom by 75mm versus the outgoing model. Moda models are longer by 10mm longer however.

Inside, both the X and Moda feature similar interior styling and equipment. Magenta colored accents on the dashboard and seat cushions, two-tone fabric seats and an altered instrument panel.

Under the hood, the Passo is powered by a 1.0-liter KR-FE inline-three. It produces 69 PS at 6,000 rpm along with 92 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. It is then mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and is available in either front wheel drive (FWD) or four wheel drive (4WD).

With a compression ratio of 12.5:1, FWD models have a claimed fuel efficiency of 28.0km/l, the highest of any gasoline-powered car in Japan. On the other hand, the 4WD has a claimed average 24.4km/l fuel economy and benefits from a new idling-stop function.

Available only for the high-spec models is the Smart Assist II collision avoidance system. It is comprised of several safety features that include: collision warning function, collision avoidance brake assist, false start control function for forward/backward starts, lane keep assist and a function that notifies drivers that the car in front has moved.
