After strong demand from the Indian consumers, Mercedes has launched Made-in-India Mercedes Benz S-Class in India. According to the company, it has launched two variants of the car i.e., S-Class S 450 4MATIC and 2021 S-Class S 350d.

The price of the first variant is Rs1.62 crore and Rs1.57 crore (Indian Rupees). The previous prices of these cars were Rs2.10 crore and Rs2.17 crore as Mercedes sold CBU units of these cars in India. After the launch of this car in the country earlier this year, Mercedes received an overwhelming response, so the company decided to produce the saloon car from their plant in Pune.

Upgrades

Visually, the Indian assembled Benz will retain all the styling elements of CBU units. Meanwhile, the fresh changes in the car are a new front grille with three horizontal slats, sleek LED headlamps, and the latest Driving Assistance 5.0.

Security-wise, the owner can also use fingerprints and voice recognition along with a PIN to open the car. Furthermore, the interior gets Nappa Leather upholstery with a diamond cross stitch to give a premium look.

Engine in Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The S-Class 450 4MATIC comes with a 3L in-Line 6-Cylinder Turbo petrol engine, producing 367bhp and 500Nm Torque. Meanwhile, S-Class S 350d has a 2,925cc in-Line 6-Cylinder diesel engine, generating 286bhp and 600Nm Torque.

Both engines are mated with 9-Speed Automatic Transmission with an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) drivetrain. The petrol car reaches from 0 to 100 in 5.1 seconds, whereas the diesel variant reaches 0 to 100 in 6.4 seconds. The top speed of both vehicles reaches up to 250km/hour.

This is a great news for car lovers in India, especially after Ford ended its operations last month. We hope that Pakistan will also get the local assembly of Mercedes cars as several new entrants have started their operations.

I beleive for Pakistan only 160 band new Mercedes were sold in 2020 in Pakistan, Pakistan is just a tiny Market for the germans to build an assembly plant.
For Audi it was merely 400 with thos number no wonder despite Audi will to build an assembly plant in Pakistan they never do it, even Mercedes once wanted to assemble at least commercial vehicle like Mercedes Sprinter, Mercedes V class.
