Honda Gold Wing Price in Pakistan, Pictures & Specs

The Honda Gold Wing is a series of touring motorcycles manufactured by the automobile manufacturer Honda. The series was launched in October 1974 and became popular globally over time. The bikes have a signature shaft drive and a flat engine.

The first generation was the GL1000 which featured a 999 cm3 engine with an electric starter feature and a dummy fuel tank. The real fuel tank was situated under the seat to bring the center of mass as down as possible. The following two years saw minute modifications to the existing design and features.

In 1979, the second generation of Honda Gold Wing was launched which was named the GL1100. Due to strong competition from Suzuki and Kawasaki, Honda increased the horsepower of the GL1100 and announced it to be the first Japanese full-dress tourer. It was produced up till 1983 with minimal modifications.

The third generation of Honda Gold Wing introduced the GL1200 model in 1984. To combat competition by Yahama, Honda gave GL1200 an upgraded engine design and taller gearing to reduce vibration and noise. The new frame was stronger but did not increase the overall weight of the bike. 

In 1987, the fourth generation Honda Gold Wing was launched and was termed the GL1500. The bike debuted the most changes since the Gold Wing’s inception. With a flat-six engine, seamless plastic body, backrest for the rear passenger, and reverse gear, the GL1500was packed with modern features. It went on to be in production till the year 2000.

The fifth-generation Honda Gold Wing was launched in 2001 and was named GL1800. The bike featured the previous design with slight modifications and new features were added.

The sixth generation of Honda Gold Wing was launched in 2018 with a whole new design. The 2018 Gold Wing came in two variants - the standard Gold Wing and Gold Wing Tour. The new model was technologically advanced with a sportier design and modern features. It received a small upgrade in 2020 with increased trunk size and red turn signals. 

The new Gold Wing comes in 4 variants - Gold Wing Automatic DCT, Gold Wing Tour, Gold Wing Tour Automatic DCT, and Gold Wing Tour Automatic Airbag DCT.

Honda Gold Wing Specs

The new Gold Wing 2024 comes with a Liquid-cooled 4 Stroke 24 valve SOHC Flat-6 engine that has a displacement of 1833cc. The Gold Wing Tour comes with six-speed transmission including overdrive and electric reverse. On the other hand,  Gold Wing Automatic DCT,  Gold Wing Tour Automatic Airbag DCT, and Gold Wing Tour Automatic DCT both come with Seven-speed automatic DCT, plus reverse and walking mode. The engine on all variants generates a maximum power output of 93kW/5500rpm and a maximum torque of 170Nm/4500rpm.

The Honda Gold Wing 2024 has a fuel tank capacity of 21.1 liters. The overall dimensions of the Automatic variants is 2,615mm x 925mm x 1,430mm while those of the manual one are 2,615mm x 905mm x 1,430mm. The seat height of the Gold Wing is 745mm while its ground clearance is 130mm and a wheelbase of 1695mm.

The bike has electric reverse gear and Gold Wing Tour comes with walking mode to add convenience to the riding experience. The bike also has Integrated Starter Generator system which makes starting and stopping the bike easier. 

The bikes sport a Double Wishbone Type front suspension and a Pro Arm® single-side swingarm with Pro-Link® single shock rear suspension. The trunk space can hold up to 61 litres of luggage which is 11 liters more than the previous model. Additionally, Gold Wing Tour Automatic Airbag DCT comes with an airbag for additional security.

Gold Wing Design

The Honda Gold Wing 2024 has a signature style that stands apart from its competitors. The front of the bike is forward slanting which gives it an aerodynamic style. The flat and edgy strokes in the body give it a distinct look and make the ride faster and more convenient by adding stability to the structure as well as reducing air friction. 

Although the dry weight of the bike needs to be handled carefully, the low seat height and optimum handle bar position makes it one of the easiest bikes to ride.

The Honda Gold Wing 2024 provides an exceptional riding experience. The bike has a kerb weight of 383 kg but due to the extremely low position of the engine, the bike is very easy to handle. The bike stays stable and gives a smooth ride even at low speeds and with heavy load. 

The bike’s electric suspension system makes it really easy to stop the bike smoothly. The moden combination of suspension absorbs all kinds of shocks and potholes. The bike is also easy to handle during turns and turns effortlessly despite its heavy weight.

The Honda Gold Wing 2024 has a great resale value internationally but it is moderate in the local market.

The new Honda Gold Wing 2024 competes with Kawasaki Z650 RS, BMW R NineT Scrambler, Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special and several more in the international market. As the bike is not locally produced in Pakistan, it has no local competitors.
