So here’s the review of Pakistan’s beloved bike Honda CG 125, by its owner Samran. Samran works at PkWheels and is a self-proclaimed “World’s Biggest Honda Fan!”. In this review, he discusses the maintenance details of his bike, why he loves Honda, and what features are his favorite.

Passion for Honda

Samran has been passionate about Honda for a long time. He fell in love with the Honda CG 125 back in 2004 when his older bought the 2004 model. The family used that bike for almost 10 years.

Then Samran switched to the “patakhay wala model” of honda CG 125. This was basically the 2012 model, which came with a completely new sticker and a new silencer. The black body of the bike attracted the consumer base, while its patakhay wala feature became popular among the Pakistani youth.

In 2017, Samran was caught in a road accident that ruined his bike’s alignment. He felt that the handle wasn’t straight and so he had to switch to Honda CD 70. For him, it was an obvious downgrade. The bike was slower than the CG 125 and lacked the power that the latter had.

In 2021, Samran switched back to Honda CG 125 and is now very happy with his purchase.

Maintenance

Samran takes the maintenance of his bike very seriously. According to him, the performance of the bike depends on regular maintenance. He uses Havoline oil in his CG 125 and changes the oil after every 800 km. he also cited past experience of using the Atlas Honda oil. The oil turned out to be of poor quality and affected the performance of the bike negatively.

As per the cost of maintenance, initially, it used to cost him Rs. 650-700. Now, the price of oil has increased to Rs. 900, so the maintenance cost has also been raised to an average price of Rs. 1200.

Comfort & Handling

The bike is comfortable to sit on and can be driven for long hours. As opposed to popular opinion, Samran did not face any vibration in the bike at high speeds. It is a common complaint of CG 125 users that the bike starts vibrating at high speeds, which makes the riding experience skimpy. Samran claims that he has ridden the bike up to high speeds of 100 km/h and has not faced any kind of issues with vibration.

Price

Samran had bought the bike in January 2021. At that time, the price of Honda CG 125 was Rs. 1 lac 35 thousand. An additional amount of Rs. 5,000 was paid for the numberplate and documentation. On top of that, the dealer demanded Rs. 6,000 from Samran as “On Payment”!

According to the dealer, it was a standard practice to charge “On payment” on all bikes, and every dealer did that. So the total amount paid by Samran was Rs. 1 lac 46 thousand.
