Honda has launched the new generation of its Honda Freed MPV in Japan. This multi-purpose vehicle is popular among the masses for its practical design, massive cargo area, and ample passenger capacity. People who the SUV bug hasn’t bitten love these crossovers for their budget-friendly pricing, ease of urban commuting, and weekend off-roading trips.
Honda Freed-Overview
This JDM minivan offers three rows and a seating capacity for seven passengers. It is all-wheel drive and comes with two powertrain options: petrol and petrol hybrid. The base variant features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with CVT, while the top-of-the-line variant will come with Honda’s e: HEV hybrid system.
Overall, the new Freed has a length of 4.3 meters and a wheelbase of around 2.74 meters, with the same underpinning as Honda City. Its width is 1.69 meters, and its height is 1.75 meters.
This new Freed boasts a lot of practicality with its simple and uncluttered design, eliminating extra curvature lines and deploying alloy wheels, improved headlamps, and a new front grille and bumper design.
Specifications and Features
Freed MPV will come with a floating infotainment screen, rectangular AC vents, a digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted controls, a parking brake, a digital instrument cluster panel, and a seat flip-flop option to enhance the boot area. Other technical specifications will be revealed later this year.
Best For Aged Passengers
Besides all its features, what I found the best is it’s near to the ground cargo area, which is only 0.33 metres. Not only will it make the loading and unloading of groceries easy, but it will also serve as an easy ramp access for wheelchairs. The ramp will be offered as a subsidiary accessory and work as a travel elixir for the aging population.
Another amazing offering of Freed is that its front seat swings out, making it easier for a person with a disability to climb into the car. Considering that 1 in 10 people in Japan are aged 80 or above, this type of feature credits the automaker with 7 stars.
This MPV will share an official market launch in Japan later this month with a positive sales perspective. We hope the new Freed comes to the Pakistani auto market soon.
