Hyundai Nishat Motor is in news as it has announced the launch date of its crossover SUV Tucson. Hyundai Tucson is the competitor of KIA Sportage and Toyota Fortuner in the local market. In this article, we will compare Hyundai Tucson with Toyota Fortuner’s base model i.e. Fortuner G.
Power train of Hyundai Tucson and Fortuner:
Hyundai Tucson is powered by a 2.0-litre MPI gasoline engine with an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. Its powerful engine generates a maximum output power of 155 hp at 6200 rpm and a maximum torque of 192 Nm at 4000 rpm. In comparison, Fortuner G is equipped with a 4-cylinder in-line 2694 cc 2TR-FE petrol engine with a sequential multi-port fuel injection system. It produces a maximum output power of 122 kW at 5200 rpm and a maximum torque of 245 Nm at 4000 rpm.
Dimensions:
Hyundai Tucson is 4480 mm in length while its width and height are 1850 mm and 1655 mm respectively. The wheelbase and minimum ground clearance of the crossover are 2670 mm and 172 mm. Toyota Fortuner G, on the other hand, has more body length as compared to Tucson i.e. 4795 mm. It has a width and height of 1855 mm and 1835 mm respectively. The wheelbase and minimum ground clearance of Toyota Fortuner G are 2750 mm and 279 mm respectively which is much more than its competitor.
Braking and Suspension:
Hyundai Tucson is incorporated with a seamless braking experience. The front wheels have ventilated disc brakes with floating calipers and pads wear warning devices. The automaker has provided with solid disc brakes with floating calipers, pads wear warning device and high torque parking brake at the rear side of the crossover. The front suspension of Tucson is McPherson Strut type and the rear end is supported with multi-link type.
In comparison to this, Toyota Fortuner G is equipped with ventilated disc brakes at the front and rear wheels. In terms of suspension, it has a double-wishbone suspension at the front and four-link suspension at the rear side.
Exterior of Hyundai Tucson and Fortuner:
Hyundai Tucson comes equipped with bold and aggressive looks supported by hexagonal front radiator grille. The vehicle is incorporated with LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights (DRL’s). Underneath the headlamps, the company offers fog lamps as well. The rear side has LED combination lamps accompanied by a spoiler with a high-mounted stop lamp above them. Hyundai Tucson comes with a standard tyre size of 225/55 R18 with alloy rims.
Toyota Fortuner G has the same outlooks as its high-grade models and comes equipped with LED headlamps with bulb-leveling system. The daytime running lights (DRL’s) are present in the SUV along with front LED fog lamps. There is also a side-turn signal on the retractable outer mirrors. It has a chrome front radiator grille and the outer door handles also come with chrome coating. The tail lights are based on LED and a high-mount stop lamp is also incorporated at the back. The tyre size of Fortuner G is 265/60 R18 which comes as a standard in the SUV.
Interior:
Hyundai Tucson comes in the black-tone interior while the international models also come in a two-tone grey and a two-tone beige interior. The built quality of Tucson is extraordinary as it feels at first glance and the South Korean automaker has provided it with a central locking system, power windows, power steering with several controls, etc. Moreover, the crossover is powered by an automated air-conditioning system and a cooled glove box.
Toyota Fortuner G has a classy looking black interior with leather seats. The SUV has luxury features such as power door locking system, smart entry, push start system, auto climate control AC system and an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen entertainment system.
Safety features:
Hyundai offers the crossover SUV Tucson with different safety features such as Electronic parking brake (EPB), Electronic stability control (ESC), Blind-spot detection (BSD), Hill-start assist control (HAC), etc. Apart from these advanced features, the vehicle is equipped with airbags and front and rear side seat belts.
Toyota Fortuner G has Vehicle stability control (VSC), Hill-assist control system, Emergency brake signal, Shift-lock system and immobilizer as safety features. Other safety features include seat belts for all rows and airbags.
Price of Hyundai Tucson and Fortuner:
The price of Hyundai Tucson is not yet announced while on the other side, Toyota Indus introduced the G variant of Fortuner in the local market at PKR 7,299,000. It will be interesting to find out the price of Tucson as Hyundai must launch it at a competitive price to stay alive in the local market.
