PM Nasirul Mulk scraps auction of Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman

The current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Justice Nasirul Mulk scrapped the auction of the iconic and historic Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman– used by both Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the dictator Zia-ul-Haq. The auction of the historic car came into notice when three automotive enthusiasts Haris Aziz, Karim Yusuf and Moin Abbasi wrote to secretary Cabinet on June 19 that, the auction of the car must be cancelled. The Mercedes-Benz 600 is a high-end large luxury sedan and limousine produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1963 to 1981. Many famous personalities around the globe have used this vehicle for private use including Leonid Brezhnev and Shah Mohammad Raza Pahlavi.

Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman was set to auction off on June 22, however, the issue came into the notice of PM and he halted the auction and ordered that the car must be placed in the museum. It is imperative to mention here that globally, only 304 units of this car were produced. The previous government of PML-N ordered and advertised the auction of this vehicle.

In the letter, it was pleaded that the car is a national heritage and shouldn’t be auctioned off to the people. Around the globe these cars are very famous and are placed in the museum, the letter further reads.

It comes with no surprise that car enthusiasts are demanding that Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman to be placed in the museum as it’s a national asset and furthermore recently the cars of nation’s mother Fatima Jinnah were restored and put to display for the public to see.

Currently, the Mercedes Benz 600 is being repaired and after the completion, the car will be put on display for the general public.
