The Mercedes M-Class had a head start of one year before BMW’s X5 started its run in the market and yet the model competed equally with the M-Class due to being a luxury crossover that delivers a premium car experience, the first of its kind. BMW has sold over 2 million X5 units in the world; this figure includes the BMW X6. And currently, the X5 is on a roll in the United States’ auto market. After all these impressive figures, BMW is still working on the model to make sure that the X5 stands at the top of its class. The biggest competition that BMW X5 2019 faces in this race is the Mercedes GLE which has been outselling the X5 for the last two years.

This is a huge moment for the X5 model also because it hasn’t been recreated since the launch of the second generation in 2007. Now, we know that you’re thinking, the X5 was revamped in 2014. Yes, officially, it was a new generation, but when you look at it, the foundation of the model was merely reworked from the second-gen model. The fourth generation of the X5 to be released in 2019 will be built completely from scratch.
Even though the BMW X5 2019 will be built upon the SUV variant of the company’s Cluster Architecture, the company is going to use a multi-material structure that will ensure a decrease in weight without compromising the proportions. According to the auto giant, the new X5 will be 1.1 inches longer, will have very minor differences in width and height, will have a few millimetres more on the wheelbase, and will be as stiff as an outgoing vehicle should have.
One thing is very clear when you take a look at the refreshed model: the designers have done a pretty thorough work on it. We will be seeing a number of changes in design compared to the current models. The new model will not only look better than the current, but it will also have that refreshing vibe about it that it had been missing for a decade.
Stylish horizontal and vertical lines around the body, two sharp spines making the hood look a bit more aggressive, and a classic monochrome grille will dominate the looks from the front. Now, there are a lot of changes that we have yet to see and discuss, but let’s not ruin the fun just now.
