With the Geneva International Motor Show coming to an end, we started glancing at all the concepts cars and production cars that were debuted at the auto show. There were tons of cool and futuristic looking concepts displayed at the auto show, but the majority of them were either super-cars or hyper-cars. The sedan segment was blown away by the BMW M8 Gran Coupe.

The BMW 8 Series will take over as the new flagship model of the BMW line-up and, as such, combines unsurpassed sportiness and elegance. The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe offers a look ahead to the most exotic and alluring variant of the new BMW 8 Series.

So, here is the all-new BMW M8 Gran Coupe. As this car is launching in 2019 which is very near, so expect the production model to look almost the same.

The design was the showstopper obviously, but the green ice theme with a dark Jade colour blew people away. Personally, this was by far the best colour scheme I have seen which complements the car so well. The BMW M8 Gran Coupe shows off BMW’s new design language which is basically a sportier feel in the form of a sedan. BMW still stuck with the signature Kidney Grill, though sharp corners have been added for aerodynamics and almost the whole bumper is now a big intake scoop of reinforced carbon-fibre followed by thin headlights which go with the flow of the bodywork as well as the front of the car. The headlights now sit slightly higher than the kidney grill and have been elongated to blend in with the new aggressive front.

Domagoj Dukec, Vice President Design BMW-M and BMW-i said:

“The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe is designed to stir things up, to polarize – it should move you emotionally. With this car we want to reach people who are looking for something special and who want to stand out from the crowd. Here, BMW M is unmistakably taking luxury out of its comfort zone.”

A longer wheelbase, slanting roof and a long hood followed by a short tail creates an elegant looking sporty coupe car. The roof flows into the back meeting the flared muscular wheel arches. The hallmark M gills, M wheels, gold-coloured brakes and M twin exhaust tailpipes recall us of what a real M car used to be. BMW M8 features a wider track at the rear, heavier fenders to give it more of a muscle look. The new duck-tail spoiler is made of plastic allowing it to be integrated into the boot lid. The fastback roof added with the sculpted rear lights with glass covers portray the car’s wider stance on the road.

So far BMW has not revealed any specifications regarding what will power this aggressive looking beast. However, we can expect it to share the same one from its sibling the M5, that would mean a 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 pumping out nearly 600hp mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system that allows the car to be rear-wheel only but the push of a button if you are in the mood or burning some rubber.
